What about my old imperial recepies?

There is no need to convert to metric if you have dual measure scales. If you have an old favourite family recipe then continue to follow it, although you may have leftovers of butter, flour etc.
However, if you do wish to scale them to suit modern metric sizes then do so.

What about my old scales, saucepans etc?

As long as the scales and measuring jugs are dual unit then they will work perfectly well in metric. If they are imperial only then you can still use them for metric recipes as long as you know how to convert between the two systems. The precise size of saucepans, baking trays varies within a size range so there’s nothing to worry about if a saucepan has a diameter of 22cm instead of 20cm.

Will it become illegal to cook using imperial measurements in the home?

Of course not! The legislation only refers to the sale of goods. There is obviously a need to regulate businesses to ensure prices are fairly applied and that customers can compare prices between different shops easily. Outside of commercial transactions you can cook, measure in whatever units you like…make up your own if you like!
